A toddler has been rescued after moving into problem in a tributary of the Thames.
The nine-year-old boy was noticed in the River Brent in Hanwell, west London, at around 3pm on Saturday.
Bystanders referred to as police, who initially joined in with efforts to name out to the boy, who was as much as his waist within the water.
But he did not respond, so one of many officers waded into the river and scooped him up.
The child was handed over to paramedics and was quickly reunited together with his family after they determined his bodily condition was superb.
Sergeant Yusuf Hassaniyeh, who carried the boy out of the river, stated: 'When the decision was circulated, there was no hesitation.
'We knew that every second counted, and we have been decided to succeed in the child earlier than it was too late.'
Appearing Chief Inspector of the Metropolitan Police, Jonathon Hubbard, stated of the attending officers: 'Their bravery exemplifies the finest qualities of the police service.'
'We are immensely pleased with their actions, which may properly have saved a toddler's life.'
