England appoint Harry Brook as white-ball captain following Jos Buttler's resignation - despite talk of Test skipper Ben Stokes being lined up for the 50-over job


Harry Brook has been named as England's new white-ball captain following the resignation of Jos Buttler – ending speculation that Ben Stokes might be persuaded to take on the 50-over job. Brook, who has been vice-captain of the ODI and T20 sides for the past year, and stepped in for the injured Buttler during the home 50-over series against Australia last September, described the job as a 'real honour'. He now has the chance to lead England to the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka next year, and the 50-over edition in southern Africa in 2027.
