It all started 15 years ago at a dinner party. I was single, in my mid-30s, a mother of two children aged six and eight. My marriage had ended two years before, at my instigation, and it had been very difficult and painful. Now that I look back, I can see that I was worried about being on my own and feeling vulnerable. At the root of it, I was looking for a good man who would love me and my children.
