Chantel Brooks, 37, has been missing since July 17, when she was last seen outside a CVS in Fairfield, Calif.

Police believe foul play was involved in her disappearance, and her family is determined to keep her case in the public eye

Her brothers, Calvin and Kevin, have organized searches and launched a fundraiser to hire a private investigator

The family of a California woman who has been missing for three months is still determined to find her.

Chantel Brooks was last seen on surveillance footage in the early morning hours of July 17, according to an August press release from the Fairfield Police Department.

Chantel, who turned 37 on Aug. 13 and was 36 at the time of her disappearance, was last observed on a surveillance camera leaving her job in the 700 block of Eddy Street in San Francisco at approximately 12:20 a.m. that morning, according to the release.

Surveillance camera footage then caught her leaving a CVS store in Fairfield at approximately 1:45 a.m. that same morning. She was last seen approaching her car — a black 2021 Infiniti QX50 SUV — in the parking lot.

In a follow-up release shared on Aug. 18, police stated that they believed “Chantel’s disappearance involved foul play.”

The police department did not immediately responded to PEOPLE’s requests for comment on Thursday, Oct. 22.

It’s now been over three months since Chantel was last seen, and her family is refusing to let the case go cold.

“My life has kind of been on pause, and I don’t mind,” one of Chantel’s brothers, Calvin Robinson, recently said in a statement to SFGATE about his life since his sister’s disappearance. “I love her. That’s my sister. I’m going to do anything I can to help bring her back.”

Calvin, who lives in Los Angeles, said he immediately traveled to the Bay Area upon learning that Chantel was missing.

“I want people to understand that my sister is more than a missing persons flyer or a news headline,” he said. “She’s a daughter, a sister, a friend and a woman with dreams that still deserve to come true.”

He added that Chantel — who he said his family calls CiCi — ran a beauty business called Glamour House, and “is a hardworking woman with dreams and ambitions.”

“She was somebody I could always talk to,” he continued. “She was my go-to. Anything I was going through in life, I could vent to her and talk to her.”

Kevin Robinson, another of Chantel’s brothers, describes Chantel as a warm, social person who has a talent for bringing people together.

“If our whole family was at a party with a bunch of people we didn’t know, she would be the one mingling, introducing everybody and making sure everyone was having fun,” Kevin told SFGate.

The brothers are on a mission to make sure that Chantel’s case does not disappear from the headlines.

“Black women who go missing aren’t always taken seriously,” Kevin told the outlet. “I actually brought that concern directly to the mayor and the chief of police.”

“I can say the Fairfield Police Department has been doing everything they possibly can. They reach out to us every Friday. They call, communicate with us and check in on the family,” he added.

A spokesperson for the city of Fairfield confirmed that Kevin met with both the mayor and the chief of police in a statement to PEOPLE.

Both brothers continue to post regularly about their sister’s case on social media.

“I just want to just keep her face out there and keep her story out there and not, as a Black woman, let her face fade away. That’s just my goal, so I’m sharing her every day,” Calvin said.

The family said they recently learned that Chantel’s cell phone was last logged at Lagoon Valley Park in Vacaville, which is about a 10 mile drive from where she was last seen.

They organized a volunteer search effort on Oct.18, but said they plan to return again as the park was larger than they anticipated.

“The area we searched was much bigger than we expected,” Kevin said. “I thought it was going to be a small recreational park, but it turned out to be hundreds of acres. We were only able to search a portion of it, so we’re going back.”

Kevin has since created a GoFundMe to help pay for a professional private investigator who can dedicate themselves fully to the case.

“We need help,” Kevin wrote on the fundraising page.

“CiCi’s disappearance has received news attention, but for us this is not a headline. This is our sister. This is our family. This is someone we love deeply, and we are doing everything in our power to find her,” he continued.

“We cannot do this alone,” Kevin added.
