Cowboys vs. Packers live updates, inactives, where to watch: Dak Prescott, Jordan Love face off on 'Sunday Night Football' in Week 6

Yahoo Sports Staff Updated Mon, October 19, 2026 at 12:42 AM UTC About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement In this story The Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers will close out the Week 6 NFL Sunday slate in primetime, with kickoff set for 8:20 p.m. ET at Lambeau Field.

The Cowboys enter Week 6 at 2-3, but with a wide-open NFC East, as each of the teams within the division has struggled. The New York Giants fell 34-27 to the New Orleans Saints in the early Sunday window, while the Eagles fell to the Carolina Panthers without quarterback Jalen Hurts, who wound up on injured reserve this week with a blood clot in his leg. As the defense continues to struggle this season, the pressure falls on Dak Prescott & Co. on offense to make some magic.

The Packers enter this game two games back from the undefeated Minnesota Vikings after a slow start to the season. They bounced back in a big way, however, with a dominant divisional win over the Chicago Bears last week, where quarterback Jordan Love showed off his skills with the deep ball, featuring Christian Watson and Matthew Golden as key weapons in the passing game.

Absent from this matchup is star defensive end Micah Parsons, who continues his recovery from a torn ACL last season . Though he was targeting a Week 6 return against his former team, he's yet to be activated to the roster and practice with the team this season.

He's made up for the taunting penalty. Matthew Golden, several plays later, secures the 9-yard touchdown pass.

Matthew Golden was called for taunting after this play, but the Packers are moving here. They're back near the Dallas 25.

Jordan Love is having no issue connecting on third and long so far tonight. The Cowboys defense is once again struggling early on at Lambeau.

Meanwhile, KaVontae Turpin is headed to the locker room after the opening kick.

The Cowboys converted on their first third down of the night, but will have to punt after Javonte Williams was stuffed there on third-and-short.

So the Packers will take over now at their own 10.

The Cowboys won the toss and have opted to receive, so Dak Prescott will take the field first.

Via The Athletic's Jon Machota , here's some video of the pregame dustup between the Cowboys and Packers:

Both teams got a little chippy as they left the field following pregame warmups. Cowboys offensive tackle Broderick Jones was getting into it with some of the Packers' defensive linemen, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky .

But Joey Porter Jr. was also among the Cowboys involved in the melee, perhaps also linebacker Jaishawn Barham and tight end Jake Ferguson, said ESPN's Todd Archer.

The Dallas Cowboys bring one of the NFL's worst defense into Sunday's matchup with the Green Bay Packers, ranking 30th in the league in yards allowed.

That led Dallas to bring in veteran defensive coach Mike Pettine as a senior assistant to help out defensive coordinator Christian Parker. Pettine had Parker on his staff when he was the DC for the Packers.

The Cowboys might perform better against a Green Bay offense that ranks last in rushing. Although Dallas is last against the run, so which unit will yield? The Packers are third in total passing yards, while the Cowboys' defense ranks 21st in that category, so that could be the difference in this game.

Joey Porter Jr. was listed as questionable for Sunday night's game, which led to some controversy — or at least some skeptical grousing from disgruntled Steelers fans speculating that the cornerback might once again be sitting out over not getting a new contract.

However, Porter was not among the Cowboys' inactives and he is expected to play after missing Week 5's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After being traded from Pittsburgh to Dallas , Porter played nearly half of the team's defensive snaps (25 of 52) against the Houston Texans.

On Friday, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones was asked by Dallas' 105.3 The Fan if the team was concerned that Porter might be staying off the field until he gets a new deal.

"I think he's all in. He wants to be out there," Jones said, via The Athletic's Jon Machota . "He was sick, he couldn't play last week with the flu. But he obviously played in our first game and I think he's fired up about what he can do to help us win against the Packers."

Moneyline odds: Cowboys -108, Packers -108

With less than 90 minutes remaining until the Cowboys and Packers kick off, each team has announced its inactives for Week 6.
