Netflix If I had a nickel for every time some dude named Rob crashed out on a reality dating show, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. After Rob Rausch jumped in the pool following Andrea Carmona’s elimination on Love Island USA season 6, Rob Feeley had an aggressively messy meltdown during a St. Patrick’s Day mixer on Love Is Blind season 11.
A ton has also gone down since filming on LIB wrapped. Rob and his ex-fiancée, Michaella Giorgio, have separately spoken about his explosive behavior and their split. Here’s everything Rob and Michaella have said about their breakup after Love Is Blind .
What didn’t he do? After Rob introduced Michaella to his close friends during the Love Is Blind St. Patrick’s Day mixer, one of them started making inappropriate sexual comments about them going “at it like wild rabbits” after having too much to drink. Instead of stopping his friend from making Michaella more uncomfortable, Rob had an outburst with off-camera producers because the restaurant had cut his friend off from ordering more beverages.
On top of that, he also had a visceral reaction to Michaella chatting with her other connection from the pods, Matt Waldrip.
According to Michaella, Rob got “aggressive” with her off-camera and said she has “a lot to gain professionally coming on this show.”
“That’s probably the most insulting thing you could say, that I’m here for the wrong reasons,” she said during a confessional. “I’m here to get married and to find love. So to hear that from the man who is closest to me is kind of a huge deal.”
The blow-up ultimately led Michaella and Rob to call off their engagement. According to Tudum , Rob packed his stuff and left once they got back to their apartment. “It wasn’t really a discussion. We separated, and then it was just over,” he shared.
During a post-show interview with Tudum, Michaella admitted she felt “betrayed” by how he acted at the pod squad mixer.
“Him behaving that way just felt like such a betrayal to me,” she said after she initially thought she “could understand his heart.”
She continued, “While he’s doing it, I’m sitting there thinking to myself, ‘What are you doing? You just met my parents. I have shown you the most I’ve ever shown anybody about myself and been so patient and kind. How could you be saying these things in front of your friends and on camera?’”
Michaella also told Vulture that she and Rob nearly quit the show before he introduced her to his friends and had his meltdown at the mixer.
Despite how everything came crashing down, Michaella shared that part of her still wishes they had left the show together. “It all just got to a really dark place,” she admitted. “I think it would’ve been better for his mental state. He was so stressed, and I don’t want anyone to be stressed.”
A few days after the incident, Michaella shared that Rob had reached out to her and they talked things out on the phone for two hours. Though they remain separated, she said Rob claimed his outburst had “nothing to do” with her and more with the show.
“I was like, ‘Well, how am I supposed to take that? It is about me. This whole experience is about you and me, not just you,’” she said, maintaining that they’re still separated.
Rob, on the other hand, told Tudum that he “took offense” when Michaella told him he was behaving aggressively when she pulled him aside off-camera.
“I was getting frustrated with the cameras in my face constantly,” he explained, adding, “Never in my life would I be aggressive towards a girl.”
Rob also wished he had been “calm” and been “even-keeled” amid his outburst, claiming that he didn’t intend to “hurt somebody.”
He further explained, “We’re all human and just have to continue to work towards being better, I guess. I know who I am when I look in the mirror in the morning, and if America doesn’t, that’s on them.”
