If there weren't any "little pink homes" in New Jersey before John Mellencamp played there Sunday night time, there definitely have been after Bruce Springsteen came out.
During Mellencamp's March 10 present at Newark's New Jersey Performing Arts Middle, the 72-year-old rock icon introduced out his fellow legend as he began to play "Pink Homes." Springsteen, 74, appeared in a T-shirt and denims and sang the second verse of Mellencamp's 1983 hit. The two basic rock titans then sang the memorable "vacation down in the Gulf of Mexico" line, delighting these gathered in Newark.
Springsteen and Mellencamp famously carried out together in 2019 at Sting's semiannual Rainforest Benefit. The two teamed up to play two hits from each other's catalog: "Pink Houses" from Mellencamp's and "Glory Days" from Springsteen's.
Mellencamp and Springsteen have been typically pitted towards each other within the press and listeners' minds since they each enjoyed large mainstream success in the 1980s. We met one another years in the past, however we just knew each other enough to say hi. However we did a rainforest thing for Sting and we performed collectively. And rapidly [Bruce] was like my massive brother, and he handled me like I used to be his sibling, and I treated him with respect. And then we turned really good buddies, and it just sort of happened".
"And I speak to Bruce on a regular basis now," Mellencamp added. "I do know what he's doing right now. He is aware of where I'm at. So it's good. It's been a great thing."

Mellencamp will proceed to play exhibits throughout america before teaming up with Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan for a leg of the Outlaw Music Pageant. Springsteen will resume his world tour on March 19. In September 2023, he put the tour on hold to offer himself extra time to recover from a peptic ulcer.
