Sometimes childhood dreams really do come true. Just askBillie Eilishafter last night. An OG Justin Bieber fan, the artist lived out all of our fanfic fantasies at Coachella Music Festival when her longtime idol brought her on stage with him to revive an old tradition: the “One Less Lonely Girl” serenade.
If you were a fangirl in the early 2010s, a ticket to Justin Bieber’s debut tour,My World, was a prized possession—an all-access pass to the heart of tween giddiness, purple temporary tattoos, and likeminded girls dragging their parents around the arena. It also granted you the possibility of being chosen as that night’s “One Less Lonely Girl,” an extra-special golden ticket straight up to the stage where you’d be serenaded by Bieber (and his floppy hair) himself. It didn’t matter how slight those odds were—you put on your best fit and hoped for the best.

Among the rest of us was Billie Eilish. A longtime Belieber, the artist has been vocal since the start of her career about how much theSWAG IIsinger’s music has meant to her. In a clip from a2019 interviewon the Netherlands’s talk showDe Wereld Draait Door, a then 17-year-old Eilish even shared that the only time she ever said to herself, “I want to be famous,” was so she “could be closer to Justin Bieber.”
“I was planning on it,” she said. “I was like, ‘if I got famous, then I would be closer to meeting him.’” When they did ultimately meet that same year, it was at Coachella.
Now, seven years later, she was released from the crowd and ushered to the stage by Hailey Bieber, collapsing to the ground before even reaching the seat set up for her. Overcome by emotion, she stayed there until the headliner helped her up, hugging her as he sang. We’re in tears.
