Dobrev wore a deep emerald-teal Zuhair Murad Fall/Winter 2025 Couture gown with a sweetheart neckline, sculptural ruching, a cinched waist, full satin skirt, and high front slit. The glossy fabric gave her gown a liquid finish, while her silver-gray strappy heels, a silver clutch, Yeprem jewelry, sleek center-parted hair, and neutral glam kept the look polished.

The gala supported The King’s Trust, which focuses on helping young people build skills and employment opportunities. The appearance stayed mostly about the dress, the gala, and the star-heavy guest list.

Former marines hired to protect synagogues and Jewish schools in wake of Golders Green attack

Synagoguesand Jewish schools will reportedly be protected by former royalmarinesand veterans of the Parachute Regiment asantisemitic violence grips the country.

It comes afterthe stabbing of two Jewish men in an attack on Golders Green, north west London, on Wednesday and in the wake of a spate of attacks in Jewish neighbourhoods in recent weeks.

The series of incidents sparked the government’s decision on Thursdayto raise the terrorism threatlevel to severe, meaning that another attack is now “highly likely”.

The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre, which is based in MI5 but makes independent assessments, previously set the threat level at “substantial”, meaning an attack was “likely”.

According to The Times, the deployment of former marines is believed to cost tens of thousands of pounds.

Met Police commissioner SirMark Rowleysaid that Jews were facing a “ghastly Venn diagram” of hate from all sides, and warned antisemitism was a growing threat to their safety because of social media, in an interview with theTimes.

He also revealed he has requested urgent funding to recruit 300 officers to protect the Jewish community, with plans for a dedicated group of police to patrol north west London.

Essa Suleiman, a 45-year-old British national born in Somalia who came to the UK legally as a child in the 1990s, has been charged following the stabbings.

He appeared atWestminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday,charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

The court heard the defendant was staying at an address in south east London which provides supported accommodation to people leaving a secure hospital. The area is covered by the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, which has confirmed he was under the care of their mental health services earlier this week.

Announcing the charges on Friday morning, commander Helen Flanagan, head of Counter Terrorism Policing London, said: “Our thoughts remain with the victims involved, and specialist officers continue to provide them with support as their recovery continues.

“We are determined to get justice for the victims, and now that a person has been charged, I would urge everyone to avoid any further speculation in relation to this case so that justice can run its course.”

The couple stepped out for a rare date night on Tuesday, April 28, for the U.K. premiere of the new film,Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D). While at the screening, DeGeneres, 68, and de Rossi, 53, took a selfie with the pop star and shared it onInstagram.

"Portia and I just left the premiere for @billieeilish’s new 3D movie that she directed with @jamescameronofficial," DeGeneres captioned the post. "The behind-the-scenes footage is amazing. If you weren’t able to see Billie in concert, this is the next best thing and then some."

DeGeneres has been a longtime supporter of the 10-time Grammy winner, previously hosting her for her daytime television debut in 2018 when she performed "You Should See Me in a Crown" at 16 years old. Eilish's new film,Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour, is co-directed by the singer andJames Cameronand was captured during Eilish's world tour. DeGeneres and de Rossi left the U.S. for the English countryside in November 2024. PEOPLE confirmed in February that the pair have since purchased a new home in California 14 months after they left the U.S. to live in England.

An insider saidat the time that the couple were splitting their time between the U.K. and Montecito, with a real estate source adding that the couple was “missing the California weather and horse scene" since relocating to the Cotswolds.

DeGeneres and de Rossi had another night out back in September, when they were spotted at the unveiling ofRH Paris at The Gallery on the Champs-Élyséesin Paris. It came not long after they celebrated17 years of marriageon social media.

"Happy 17th anniversary of the best day of my life. Portia, I love you more every day," DeGeneres wrote in a caption, adding the hashtag, "#MarriageForAll."

DeGeneres is also getting back into her voice-acting work. She confirmed she'll bereprising the role of Doryfor a new short set within theFinding Nemouniverse.Deadlinewas the first to report on Friday, April 24. "Excited about this," DeGeneres wrote in an Instagram caption.

Eilish's new film is in theaters May 8.
