Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are returning for the fourth installment of the Dangerous Boys franchise.
The duo starred within the first buddy cop movie alongside Téa Leoni again in 1995 and returned to the large display for the 2003 sequel.
Almost 20 years later, Lawrence and Smith reprised their respective roles as Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey in 2020's Dangerous Boys for Life. Though the third installment was a field office smash, the future of the franchise seemed uncertain after Smith slapped Chris Rock on the 2022 Oscars. The actor confronted widespread criticism in the wake of the incident and was banned from all Academy events, together with the Oscars, for the subsequent 10 years.
Despite the backlash, producer Jerry Bruckheimer stated he would "completely" work with Smith on another Dangerous Boys movie throughout a December 2022 interview with the Hollywood Reporter.
"Will make a mistake, sadly," Bruckheimer stated. "That's not who he's. He's an outstanding actor and there's all the time forgiveness on the earth."
