British Fuel clients have been rudely awoken by a call in the midst of the night time asking them for feedback, it's been revealed.

Citing a 'technical situation' for the calls around 3.15am, the company has since been slammed for it's 'insincere' strategy to the matter.

Derek Smith, 85, advised Metro.co.uk he was one of the recipients of the British Fuel call.

He stated: 'I used to be lower than impressed with being referred to as at three.30am and would greatest describe my method as incandescent… no, I didn't give the requested score.'

Mr Smith stated he believes the calls have been made by way of an India-based name centre, and have been made as a result of it was an 'okay time' to do so in India.

Early within the morning on March 12, Rebecca Ringshall, 63, picked up the phone to listen to an automated voice saying: 'This is British Fuel, we need to conduct a survey asking how did we do?'

'So when the telephone rang, I did worry the worst for a few seconds. I assumed they could say something like "your mom has passed away in her sleep".

'Once I realised it was British Fuel, I just couldn't consider it. I simply put the telephone down, I used to be completely hacked off about it.'

The automated telephone name came every week after Ms Ringshall had been on the telephone 'all day' to attempt to treatment a £30 overpayment after she had closed her mom's account last yr.

The difficulty has since been resolved, British Fuel stated, with solely a 'small quantity' of consumers affected by rude awakening.

But the handling of Ms Ringshall's grievance has infuriated her, after the company stated that they had 'been in an analogous state of affairs to you up to now and my heart goes out to you with this.'

She added: 'They went utterly excessive which actually wound me up. You don't should go out with "my heart goes out to you", I'm sorry, it's just insincere.'
