HOMEOWNERS have accused their HOA president of misinformation and unfairness relating to No Parking signs on a city-owned road.

The Baynet, a news outlet for Leonardtown, Maryland, reported on an HOA president, Kimberley Brief, versus home-owner dispute in 2022 after it was announced that "No Parking" signs can be posted in the Dayflower Place group.
The subject of the argument for householders was that the streets inside the subdivision belonged to the county, so householders felt Brief shouldn't have the authority to restrict parking.
Beforehand, the streets inside didn't have any restrictions imposed.
In a public forum held by the St. Mary's County Board of Commissioners, Brief invited householders to voice their opinions to make clear the restrictions.
"There was plenty of misinformation and inaccurate statements introduced as reality," Brief advised the outlet.
"Consequently, I want to provide some details to counter the misinformation."
Brief acknowledged that the HOA does not have any type of authority over the streets inside the subdivision and that Brief and the board went to city officers with safety considerations surrounding parking.
"The HOA has acted on behalf of the group to deal with security considerations up to now including the newest actions relating to on-street parking," Brief continued.
"Although the HOA does not have the authority to approve any of the actions involving county-owned roads, we do have a duty to direct the considerations to the attention of the county company that has that authority.
"To ignore any security concern delivered to our attention can be irresponsible and will trigger the HOA to face legal legal responsibility."
<!-- End of Brightcove Player --> Since this event initially passed off in 2022, COVID considerations turned the normally in-person meeting into a virtual one, and Brief noted that home-owner attendance was lower than anticipated.
A survey was then despatched out to householders to deal with parking considerations.
Many responded saying that they might moderately do without restrictive indicators locally, though Brief felt that the security considerations surrounding non-restrictive parking have been too great to disregard.
Shortly afterward, "No Parking" signs went up.
"Although the HOA Board understands that many would like that the signs and ordinance be rescinded, we help safety and accessibility for all householders," she stated.
"Faced with the considerations and the demonstrated security and accessibility issues, we took the required steps following all county tips and HOA bylaws to have the difficulty addressed by the appropriate authority."

"[Short] says she had exhausted all options before going to the County Commissioners however when the HOA company was contacted to get the variety of complaints reported for parking on the street they knowledgeable us they have had zero complaints for parking within the last two years."
A further reader was curious as to why there was such a drawn-out battle over parking in the first place.
"I drove previous Dayflower like beneficial, I saw two automobiles on the whole road," they wrote.
"This looks like it is being blown up by one road. Why is that this even a problem? Many streets all through the county have a automotive on each side parked along the aspect and in driveways."
