An 11-year-old boy has died following a collision with a bin lorry.
The boy was driving his bike on Whitehouse Street in Edinburgh at around eight.20am on Friday when he collided with the car.
He was later pronounced lifeless on the scene of the crash. The driving force of the bin lorry was reported to be unhurt.
Inspector Andrew Thomson, of Police Scotland's Street Policing Unit, stated: 'Our thoughts are very much with the boy's household and buddies presently.
'Our enquiries are ongoing to determine the complete circumstances and I might urge anyone who might have info which has not but been passed to police to get in touch.'
